55-minute Student Massage
Student treatments are performed under the supervision of an instructor by students who are enrolled in the Diploma program. Students will, at a minimum, be able to provide a Swedish (relaxation) massage; depending on their level of training at the time of the appointment, they may also have the skills to perform condition-specific work but we cannot guarantee that as appointments are randomly assigned to students at the beginning of their shift. If you have requests for a specific therapist, gender, conditions to be addressed, or specific bodywork modality, we recommend our professional clinic. |

Swedish Massage
Intended for relaxation and wellness, swedish massage is the foundation of most western therapeutic massage modalities. It consists of a system of long strokes, kneading, friction, and percussion techniques on the more superficial layers of the muscles, combined with active and passive movements of the joints. Depth of pressure, duration, direction, speed, frequency and rhythm of the technique can be modified to produce results consistent with the treatment objectives. |

Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage allows the therapist to work deeper into the muscles, tendons, and fascia of the body to work out adhesions, triggerpoints, scarring, and to promote positive structural change. Recommended for those who want specific work on chronically tense or contracted areas. Some of the strokes are similar to those in a Swedish massage, but the movement is slower and the pressure deeper and concentrated on areas of pain and discomfort. |
